Marge Tone's 90th Birthday!
For those of you who know Marge Tone, you will remember her years of dedication to the Arabian horse, especially her Fabulous FADJUR. In 1958, as President of the Arabian Horse Assn. of Northern California, she put on the All Arabian Horse Show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, with guest star James Garner bringing in the crowd! Marge was a Director of I.A.H.A., and the first Regional President when Region 1 took in all of California and Nevada! Her first big job was to put on the Regional Championship Show!
Marge has always believed that to promote the Arabian Horse, you
must promote the Amateur, and she started and held the first well filled classes
for Amateur To Show in the Arabian Riders and Breeders Show, held at the San
Joaquin County Fairgrounds in Stockton.
We join in wishing Marge many more Happy Birthdays in the years to come.
Marge Tone was born in Dos Palos, California on February 19,
1915, the fifth of 15 brothers and sisters. Her parents, Laura and Loren
Woodworth moved to Stockton, California, and at age 17, Marge met young Jack
Tone III at a baseball game. Three months later, on September 5th, 1932, they
were married. Together they had five daughters, and in September 2004, they
celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary!
Marge invited Joanne and I to join with family members at her home for a small
luncheon honoring her birthday. Following hugs and kisses from children,
grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, we had Irish Cream with
"Uncle Bud", Jack Tone. (He will be 96 on May 13th).
We then read Marge a little birthday card written in her honor. It pleased her
so much, that she said "This should be in print", so here it is:
